Transcatheter edge-to-edge mitral valve repair — a minimally invasive treatment for mitral regurgitation. The procedure is done through a puncture in the groin without stopping the heart and without sternotomy.

Advantage: suitable for patients for whom open surgery is contraindicated due to health or age.

What is TAVR and how does it differ from open surgery?
TAVR (transcatheter aortic valve replacement) is valve replacement without opening the chest. A catheter is inserted through the femoral artery, the new valve is delivered to the heart and expanded in place of the old one. No heart-lung machine is needed and there is no need to stop the heart. Recovery is 2–5 days instead of several weeks after open surgery.
What is a magnesium bioresorbable stent?
A magnesium biodegradable stent is a next-generation stent that fully dissolves in the body within 12–24 months. Unlike metal stents that stay in the artery forever, the magnesium stent does its job and disappears. The risk of late thrombosis and inflammation is reduced. FFCH was the first clinic to use this technology in mainland China (November 2023).
Can a stroke be treated at FFCH?
Yes. FFCH holds national Stroke Center certification — the highest state status in China. The clinic specializes in both acute care (thrombolysis, thrombectomy) and rehabilitation. A feature of FFCH is post-stroke recovery using traditional Chinese medicine (acupuncture, herbal formulas), which shows good results in neurorehabilitation.
Which documents are needed for a consultation with the FFCH cardiologists?
For an initial assessment, the following is enough: an ECG, echocardiography (cardiac ultrasound), and the latest hospital discharge summary or a cardiologist's report. To plan TAVR or TEER, a contrast cardiac CT is needed — it can be done anywhere and the DICOM file sent. Ekaterina arranges for the documents to be sent directly to the FFCH cardiology board.

The cost is determined individually — after the FFCH cardiology board reviews your documents. Within 48 hours you'll receive a treatment plan and a precise estimate in yuan (CNY). Payment goes directly to the clinic — not through an intermediary. The cost is fixed in the contract before treatment begins.
